After a couple of eBay battles I was able to score this vintage Hamilton mechanical self winding watch. These were issued to the soldiers in Vietnam and as you can see its pretty beat up but all that just gives it more character.
I watched the Big Fish tonight, and in the moment that young Ed is about to jump out of the airplane for his country, he shows his commanding officer the face of his Hamilton. He taps its face, indicating that he’s being signaled moments too soon. He waits for the seconds hand to strike 12, winks at the officer, and jumps out of the aircraft. Suave? I think so, too.
